The 11th African Cultures and Democratic Dialogue (ACDD) discussed causes of forced migration, successful integration practices in Brandenburg, and the empowerment of refugees especially those living in collective accommodation. A strong emphasis was placed on inclusion, particularly the participation of refugees with disabilities.
Through preparatory meetings, visits to refugee accommodations, and a main conference with a panel discussion titled “Life in Collective Accommodation: Challenges, Empowerment, and Paths to Integration,” refugees, civil society actors, migrant organizations, and professionals engaged in open and equal dialogue.
A symbolic visit to the Tree of Equality in Bad Belzig, cultural contributions, and a radio broadcast strengthened intercultural exchange and public visibility.
Some of the new refugees that participated described the ACDD as their first opportunity to actively take part in a political dialogue. The event helped raise awareness of discrimination, legal and structural barriers, and highlighted practical support options, including access to language learning and integration networks.
